new new new

Here are my latest completed garlands, a new version! You will notice from all my other garlands that they are usually in uppercase.....why is that? Well, the short answer is that I find it easier that way! However, having completed these two that start with a capital letter followed by all lowercase case letters, I now realise that it wasn't as tricky as I first thought. It just takes a bit longer making sure they are lined up and in the correct position and voila! I've seen vertical lowercase name garlands before but not horizontal, I think I might find the vertical version a bit easier but practise makes perfect, these versions may become the norm for Heartfelt Handmade......
By the way, I loved the colours of these, shades of pink and green with hints of red and white too.

has it been a week?

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted, mind you it has been half term hols so that helps to explain it! We have been busy catching up with friends and their children and generally having lots of half term fun. But now I'm back to tell you about my latest makes. I've still managed to get some work done!

Firstly I posted this package of treats off to my swap partner kitty.eden ( for the 'A Little Fabric, A Little Chocolate' Feb swap over on It was my first swap, so I will get better at it and hopefully become a Super Swapper eventually!

Something else I completed recently was a hair slide/clip tidy. The idea has been developing in my mind for several months and I finally got round to creating it. This is my first one, so no doubt it will be tweaked when I make my next one. I also need to make a couple of them for my girls, I'm forever finding hairclips all over the place.

The Hairclip tidy has little dotty hearts hanging from the bottom of the ribbons too (these are quite dominant in my creations recently - no reason why, I just like 'em).

I've also managed to make a couple of new name garlands, both slightly different to my norm. Firstly to the blue 'Colben' version, I added a matching heart at the end at my clients request. It looks sweet and I think I will try and incorporate more button hearts into my makes. I used to make felt hearts all the time (hence my name Heartfelt!), I feel more hearts coming soon! Watch out.

Most of you will notice from my creations that I rarely make anything in muted tones but for this 'Harry' garland I was given the freedom to make it in any colour I liked. So, for a new baby boy I decided to make this garland in soft beige, cream and a touch of baby blue. I really like my subtle side!

Other makes include some new 'Going Dotty' hanging letters. Amongst them are this blue 'J' and this pink 'A'. The 'A' is a new variation for me, made with dots and buttons. Both letters were for school friends of my eldest. The 'A' was for Amelie (neviepiecakes' eldest). I have to mention the amazing birthday cake that Natasha made, it was beautiful and tasted divine (chocolate with tonnes of choc chunks, mmmmmmm). See her wonderful yummy treats at

Parties and cupcakes!

This week I had the pleasure of making a felty creation to go into each of the party bags for the daughter of my lovely flickr pal Natasha, I had lots of fun making these pink and blue cupcakes with little heart tags for all the little girls lucky enough to be going to the craft party tomorrow (14th Feb - Valentines Day). I know Natasha has a very strong artistic genes and is very talented so I am so looking forward to seeing which activities she has planned and also very much looking forward to seeing the cakes (and hopefully tasting them too!!!).

I really enjoy making items for party bags and they look so sweet bagged up altogether in a huge pile! Hope the girls have a lovely time. My eldest, Maddie, is a guest and is soooooo looking forward to the party tomorrow! Oh to be a 5 year old.

I'd also like to make a special mention for Jo from who hosted a wonderful Cake & Coffee morning at her lovely home today in aid of MS. There were many scrummy yummy cakes and lots of school mums who turned up in support. Well done everyone because £122.68 was raised (the 68p was very generously donated by Jo's 5 year old son William who raided his piggy bank for such a good cause). Jo's completely lovely mum has suffered from MS for many many years and is a real inspiration to us all. Well done everyone! xoxo

Catch up time.....

Snow definitely took over our week last week, with schools being closed and emotions running high! We made lots of things together, every day was a craft day (and a tv day!). Surprisingly I was pretty productive in the way of Heartfelt makes too. I think it was because we didn't even try to go out much (only to build snowmen) so we were pretty relaxed not having to go this place and that. Anyway, more snow is forecast for Hertfordshire later so we could be in for another week of indoor play...... must stock up on headache tablets!
I did manage to make these new personalised letters, name and heart though ....

I finally managed to finish this little house too. Some friends moved house at Christmas and I'd been meaning to get this out to them in December! Oh well, it should be with them now and I hope they like it. It is filled with lovely scented dried lavender.
Here are a batch of Valentine's hairclips. The majority of these were for a lovely loyal customer of mine, I hope the girls like them. I made some extras for my girls and their own friends for V day too.
Finally, here is a scrummy, yummy strawberry. The reverse of this strawberry is plain felt, but it's green with white polka dots! I love this felt when I found it recently and can't wait to use it for my Spring and Easter creations.
Well, now I'm working on a batch of (felt) cupcakes in time for a little girl's bday party at the weekend, so I'd better get on with it before the snow starts to fall again. Have a great week everyone xoxo
